LA MISSION
Our mission is to provide hope and opportunity to broken men, women, children and families in Los Angeles through meeting their spiritual, physical, educational and social rehabilitation needs.
When you think about the tangible needs of the folks we serve at the mission, think about what it takes to provide food and clothing for your family.
Some of the things that most people would not think about are the personal care items. These include: deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, mouth wash, body lotion, razors shaving cream, bar soap, shampoo and hair gel. We prefer to get these in the small size containers such as hotel samples or travel sized. As well we are always looking for more clothing items: new socks and underwear, new women’s undergarments, men’s pants (sizes 32-38) and men’s XL and XXL shirts.
Food donations are also appreciated. However, due to the large number of meals we serve, the small sized cans do not work well for us. Bulk sized cans of vegetables, oatmeal and cold cereal are always appreciated as are donations of meat and poultry. We have to purchase almost all of our meat.
It is important for us at the Los Angeles Mission to express our gratitude to all of the WACC staff and congregation for the tremendous support you have provided for our ministry to the homeless. Last year’s underwear drive response was outstanding, with over 13,000 articles of underwear donated. The men’s clothing drive response was equally impressive and our students are still reaping the benefits from the donations.
